Lush Oatifix Review

Hope you all had a fun weekend. This is my first blog post. I will be reviewing my first Lush product, the Lush Oatifix Face Mask. Having lived in Dubai for several years and experiencing the annoyingly hot summer, I have never comes across a face mask that makes my skin feel healthy and soft. This is one perfect cleanser for dry, irritating and sensitive skin – that totally got my attention!

Product Claims:
A delicious face mask to cleanse, soften and moisturize dry and sensitive skin. It’s an amalgamation of bananas, vanilla and oats that helps to cool and nourish the skin. Oats can be slightly rough on the skin, but are a natural beauty enhancer. This soothing scrub contains illipe butter which reduces redness, ground almonds to gently polish and Kaolin (or china clay) to purify your skin.

Directions for Use:
Apply this sweet and mushy mixture to clean skin. Smooth it over the entire face avoiding the eye and mouth. Leave it on for about 5 to 10 minutes. Thereafter, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. This mask is free of preservatives and must be refrigerated to keep it cool and fresh.

Ingredients:
100% natural ingredients – Glycerine, Fine Oat Meal (Avena Sativa), Fresh Organic Bananas (Musa Paradisica), Water, Ground Almonds (Prunus Dulcis), Illipe Butter (Shorea Stenoptera), Kaolin, Talc, Vanilla Pod, Vanilla Absolute, Sandalwood Oil, Benzoin Resinoid, Coumarin, Benzyl Cinnamate, Linalool, Perfume, Gardenia extract.

Price & Availability:
A 75g pot is about AED 40 and can be availed at all LUSH stores (Dubai Mall, Mirdiff City Centre, Mercato Mall & Deira City Centre) in Dubai. I picked up mine from Dubai Mall.

Packaging:
It comes in a little black pot which I think is handy and cute. You will usually find these little black pots sitting in a glass bowl filled with ice at the LUSH stores.

My thoughts on LUSH Oatifix:

A few weeks ago, when I walked into the Lush store, I had no idea that I would find something as revitalizing as Lush OATIFIX. This product is a real treat for anyone with sensitive and dry skin.

I have extremely dry and sensitive skin so the other day I went to get my visa renewed, I was out too long in the sun, and when I got home I really wanted something relaxing for my skin. And voila! There was Oatifix in my fridge and I went ahead and tried it out.

Initially when I applied it on my skin, it felt so delicious that I wanted to eat it all up :P The scent is very pleasant and gentle – to me it feels like a lovely aroma of oats and vanilla. Honestly, after applying this scrub, it did feel a little ticklish, but I wasn’t too worried about it. It’s best to apply on damp skin, as the mixture is thick and can be a teensy bit difficult to spread over the face. Although it is suggested that you wash it off within a span of 5 – 10 minutes, so you can leave in for a little longer – it doesn’t tighten your skin unlike other face masks which is one of the reasons why I love this product. However, it is a little sticky in nature, and can take a while to wash off the little oat pieces. Here’s how it looks,

I have used this mask for over a week now, and the results are just amazing. I have stopped using a moisturizer at all as this leaves my skin completely hydrated. I reckon you use this at least two to three times a week.
I absolutely love this stuff! It is so nourishing that my skin feels soft and conditioned and I can’t stop talking about it. I am glad I picked this up from the store. Be sure to try it out and do share your thoughts!

Final Verdict:
For those of you with dry and sensitive skin, this product is a must try! I would definitely recommend it to all who are looking for a good face mask to combat this heat.
