Nars Gilda Blush
Nars Gilda Blush is one of the most under-rated blusher I have come across yet. I’ve recently given up on MAC Cosmetics, in particular their blushers. I’m not impressed with the lasting power and the poor pigmentation of most of Mac blushers. Therefore, I decided to give Nars a try – WOW! I ended up walking away with two blushers, Gilda being my favourite shade!
This shade is a peachy, pink colour which is similar to Orgasm – although, it doesn’t contain any shimmer. The matte look in terms of blusher is what I usually opt for as I use a separate highlighter for a slight glow on my cheekbones.
When I first opened my blusher, my first thought was that the blusher looks very minimal in terms of not much product being in the pan. After my first usage, I realised Gilda blusher is extremely pigmented which means a little goes a long way! Yay! I can apply my blusher with 2 sweeps across the pan with my Nars Yachiyo brush (I will review later!) and I’m good to go! I’m very sceptical about primers and although I know it’s classified as a ritual by most, I try to save wearing a primer for a special occasion or if I know I will be going out in the evening after work.. you get my drift!
This blusher has really lived up to my high beauty expectations as it will last me the ENTIRE day without a primer or touching up (I don’t carry any makeup with me!). I know when writing a review, it’s best to give the most honest praise and criticism but I really can’t find many with this product. The only thing which is a huge let down is the Nars packaging as a whole. The matte, black rubber outer packaging of all Nars products is extremely unhygienic and I hate the feel of it. I keep my makeup bag extremely well kept and I’m very aware of bacteria floating around cosmetics so I try to do my best to keep this to a minimal. However, regardless of how clean your makeup bag is, the rubber outer packaging picks up all kinda of dust, powder, dirt etc and clings to it. In fact, I’ve just a thought.. I will clean all my Nars products this evening with a wet wipe.
Nars Gilda blusher will be best suited to fair, olive skin complexions as it does not have enough warmth for slightly more tanned tones. Although, I wore this in Dubai when I was extremely tanned and it worked well with a few extra sweeps over my cheeks.
This will be the only blusher I will repeat purchase time and time again! If you prefer a glow to your cheeks and you are not too keen on matte blushers, I would recommend using a sweep of a highlighter (not too white, if you are olive toned) to give you a glow before you apply your blusher. The colour is extremely versatile for everyday wear, yet also great for evening wear as it is easily buildable and matches most lipsticks and complexions.
