OPI Malaga Wine Review
OPI Malaga Wine Review
I’ve had the chance to collate quite a selection of beauty products to experiment with, which gives my reviews a lot more substance! Let’s start with nails.. I love having groomed nails. So much so, that I have rarely been spotted without nail polish. OPI has been my ultimate nail polish brand since I can remember. I’ve tried several other brands which are much more accessible in drugstores and supermarkets at a much lower price. However, I always seem to come back to my favourite OPI shades because of the longevity of each wear. This shade is the perfect shade I know most women are searching for, it’s a deep red which looks extremely luxurious and creamy. Unlike most other nail polish brands, OPI nail polish can be closely classified as nail lacquer which is creamier and thicker but must not be mistaken for being gloopy! Nail lacquer is great for those with nails which are slightly more brittle, prone to chipping/flaking and are generally not in the best condition. This is due to the finish being thicker and therefore concealing all the flaws your natural nails have. A regular nail polish is thinner and simply highlights dry flakiness of the nail if you haven’t buffed your nails smooth enough. Today I am reviewing the shade, OPI Malaga Wine.
OPI Malaga Wine is the perfect shade for Autumn / Winter and has been on trend for a few years running now. One coat may leave you with a few streaky bristle marks, but the colour is a much softer shade of red. However, with two coats of this shade, you will be left with a classy, vampy red which have been spotted on the red carpet at every event. I personally think that deeper shades look a lot more elegant and luxurious on neat, filed down square tip nails, whilst lighter shades such as a nude or peach look great on either long or short nails and are much more versatile.
I know when you think of red nails, you think of a glamorous occasion to match, which can be a bit over the top for everyday wear. Fear not with OPI’s Malaga Wine, this deeper shade of red has great versatility and looks great with casual outfits as well as glamorous evening outfits. I’ve been wearing this shade to work for a week and I find it extremely easy to match, even against knitwear (Brr… it’s cold in the UK)!
I’m extremely impressed with this shade of red by OPI, as much as I am impressed by the texture, finish and quality of the product. The bottle has lasted me a few months and has not become thick or gloopy at all. Although I usually always use a Base Coat and a Top Coat when applying nail polish, this nail polish can allow me to cheat and skip those steps. The lasting power is great with or without a Base Coat and the finish is glossy enough that it looks like I am wearing a Top Coat even if I’m not!
Pros of OPI Malaga Wine
-The long lasting durability of this nail polish is extremely impressive and well worth treating yourself to.
-Rich, creamy finish
-Looks like an expensive manicure with only 2 coats
-Will compliment most skin complexions, from fair skin to olive skin and also darker tanned skin
-Great on-trend shade, although is a classic colour suitable for most age ranges
Cons of OPI Malaga Wine
-This nail polish is pricier (almost double) than regular drugstore nail polish bottles. However, this is easily justifiable as it lasts much longer on your nails and in the bottle so you are getting your money’s worth
-OPI is not highly accessible, although it’s becoming easier to find online at great prices
-Can be streaky if not applied carefully
