Enough said on the necessity of makeup brushes, but very less on how to take care of them. I showed you guys how I wash my regular makeup brushes HERE. But ever since then, there has been a change in the brushes I use regularly as well as in the way I clean them now.

First and foremost, try to dust off the excess makeup on the brushes after use, each time you use it. I keep a tissue or sponge handy for doing this. Just do not push or pull too hard!!Accumulation of product on the brushes causes the bristles to break down.

Keep them safe from dust. Keep them in a make up brush case, or get them those rubbery/plastic protectors.

Also keep them upright to maintain their shape.
Cleaning the with commercial cleaners is a good idea, but I prefer saving my money on that. Hence I use a normal shampoo for cleaning the brushes, followed by a conditioner to keep the bristles soft and itch free.

Use cold water to wash your natural hair brushes to avoid them from loosing and shedding hair and also losing their natural feel and texture.

The best way to wash your brushes is take some cleanser/shampoo onto your palm and take the brushes and slightly dab it in the cleanser and then run it through slow water. Or an even more milder way of cleaning them is mixing shampoo into a bowl of water and swirling the brushes into it. Once you see that the bristles look clean and makeup free, change the water in the bowl and repeat the process. Once the water is completely clean, you can repeat the process by substituting shampoo with a conditioner.

Do not use a blow drier to dry the brushes, you should always let them dry on their own without any unnatural means. You can also use tissues or sponge for drying up the brushes.
Lastly, wash your brushes atleast once in two weeks.
