You might be wondering a blunder is a blunder right! So why would it vary from place to place? Well, you are just partly right. As, you know the climate in gulf region is much different as compared to other areas where you can easily cover up for these blunders if ever committed and in majority of the cases it wouldn’t even matter much. However, most of the Middle East region especially the Emirates feels like summer all year round. Thus, more the possibility of getting caught red-handed in the sinful act of a makeup slip-up!Living in this region for whole my life, I have seen some serious mistakes women tend to do in regards with applying and setting their makeup. It may look all so perfect while applying but once you step out of your house, you notice things going haywire on your face!! Here are the top 5 makeup blunders you should avoid:

Blunder #1: Using waterproof mascaras

Ok so you think using waterproof mascara will solve all your smudging woes & stop giving you the raccoon eye look? Then you are absolutely wrong! Unless you are going for a swim or plan to stay out in the rain (which so never happens here), a waterproof mascara is of very little help.
What you need to do is to invest in a good smudgeproof mascara (yes waterproof & smudgeproof are different!). Unlike waterproof, smudgeproof mascara is resistant to oil & sweat and works better for people residing in humid areas like the gulf. It’s fine if you use your normal mascara on the upper lashes & skip using the smudgeproof mascara there and apply it only on the lower lashes as that’s where it’s more likely to spread.

Blunder #2: Not setting your eyebrow and eyeliner

It is absolutely essential to set your brows and eyeliner because once you start sweating it is all going to get washed off or worse you might just end up scratching or wiping the area unconsciously and be horrified with what comes on your hand. Same goes for your eyeliner which you apply on your waterline and upper lids. There are so many products available in the market which can be a way out for these issues. You can fix your eyebrows with an eyebrow sealer or eyebrow gel. Also translucent powder and fix spray could work well enough if you don’t shade your brows extensively. While applying eyeliner on your waterline, you should swipe a q-tip to make the area dry so your eyeliner will stay longer without smudging. Also, you can set it by applying the same shade of eyeshadow on your liner. It will act as a barrier to it, not letting it spread.

Blunder #3: Excess use of powder

So your face is becoming a shiny disco ball with mixture of sweat and oil & you think using a facial powder or powder foundation on top of it is going to solve the greatest problem of all time. Guess what? You have committed another big blunder and attracted more of the unwanted attention to your facade. Your perspiration mixed with moisture and the previously present foundation will leave you with a cakey face or worse more breakouts in future. Just follow the ‘less is more’ rule. Instead of overloading with the powder to give you matte finish, either use a matte foundation and spritz a finishing spray/water or even rose water over it or make sure to carry blotting sheets with you to absorb the sweat and oil.

Blunder #4: Skipping the much needed primer
No matter how natural look you want to achieve, applying a face primer prior to your foundation or facial makeup will make sure it doesn’t wear out too quickly while not making the pores and lines on your countenance too obvious which tends to get more highlighted during the humid weather. It acts as a great base for your makeup without being too heavy. Invest in a good primer, I bet you won’t regret it.

Blunder #5: Leaving out on setting your lips

Unless you are looking towards achieving this look, please never leave your house without setting your lips. It just looks hideous! To avoid such a mishap, you can prime your lips with a lip primer or even a waterproof foundation. Then apply your lipstick, blot once and reapply again. That way your lipstick can act as a lipstain too making your lipstick last longer without the need to refresh it again and again. And as a final touch, you can lightly tap translucent powder on top of your lips.
